An exercise aimed at creating a list of things that I consider important for designers. As technology, people, and our spaces change, this list will also change.

  1. How users look for information
  2. How to pretend you know, what you really don’t know
  3. When to stop working and take a walk
  4. Present your work as a compelling story, focused on your users
  5. More communication is not good communication, understanding is
  6. Learn about the industry you work in (ie, banking, mobility, farming, etc)
  7. Learn from others’ mistakes
  8. When your team grows, it becomes more important to organize your files
  9. Comfort can be the enemy, actively seek out people who are different than you
  10. There’s no such thing as perfection, but iterations will take you close to it
  11. How to pretend you know, what you really don’t know
  12. Your unique background brings a unique perspective to the team, trust your perspective
  13. Design for your own joy
  14. A little bit of coding
  15. Most users don’t know what they want
